Home/Hotel/Hostel or JNB airport pickup and drive to Tremisana Game Lodge where you have time to have a swim or quick rest in your airconditioned chalet. Board the open Landcruiser for an exciting Sunset Drive. After dark, use spotlights to locate nocturnal animals. Dinner will be an unforgettable BUSH BRAAI deep in the African bush. After dinner continue with the Night Drive and overnight in an en suite air-conditioned chalet.
Awaken at sunrise for an exhilarating day of unforgettable bush life. Drive to a remote part of the Balule Game Reserve, where you enjoy a 4h Bush Walk. Your experienced field guide will lead you through the bush. The thrill of following Africa’s large animals until you can take a photo will remain with you forever. Adrenalin surges will be acute, notwithstanding the presence of your armed ranger. Return to Tremisana for brunch. At around 15h00 we go on an afternoon game drive. Transfer to Marc’s Treehouse Lodge where accommodation is in fascinating and romantic treehouses.
Drive to the Orpen Gate of Kruger on a custom-built open-sided Gameviewer. You will have an opportunity to view game without intervening glass windows and also listen to and smell the denizens of the bush. We have regular stops at picnic spots, restcamps and places of interest. The Orpen-Satara-Nwanedzi region’s open plains attract large herds of zebra, giraffe and antelope that, in turn, attract many predators. In fact this zone has the highest concentration of lions in Africa.
Enjoy an early morning walk accompanied by an armed ranger. We then drive to the awesome Three Rondawels and the Blyde River Canyon. Return to Gauteng in the late afternoon. Airport dropoff by arrangement.
More about Marc's Treehouse Lodge
Motlala Game Reserve
MARC'S TREEHOUSE LODGE offers rustic but comfortable accommodation geared to put one in close contact with the sights, sounds and scents of the wild. The treehouses are made of wood and reeds under thatch and blend harmoniously into the dense riverine vegetation.
Creature comforts include electric fans, mosquito nets and comfortable beds, with linen, towels and soap provided. 24 hour WIFI is available to all guests. Each treehouse has its own private ablutions and has a viewing deck overlooking the perennial Klaserie River or the “Breakfast” Dam, where animals often come to drink.
The treehouses are unobtrusively located on the elevated banks of the river, providing excellent views of the terrain. Marc’s Treehouse Lodge is part of the Motlala Game Reserve which boasts well-watered grazing for its varied fauna. White and Black Rhino, Buffalo, Giraffe, Zebra along with the numerous antelope have made the Motlala Reserve a real wildlife paradise. Among the predators, Leopard and Hyena are more often heard than seen. The nights at Marc’s Treehouse Lodge are enriched by the calls of its denizens : the eerie whoops of hyena; the spine-tingling wail of jackals , the distant roar of lions and the plaintive cry of the thick-tailed bushbaby add an unforgettable aural dimension to one’s appreciation of the bush.

“Close to Nature”
Wow… This place gives you both adrenaline and lots of joy. We will NEVER forget when a leopard was killing an animal just by the river (<50 m from the treehouse) and screaming/calling just outside our treehouse (<1 m). We could not take a breath until it was gone. When we were leaving we took a bush walk outside the camp and found a lot of footprints around the whole camp. Amazing!
“Excellent and economic – choose Viva if you want experience as a family”
We were traveling on a budget and they were able to accommodate. We saw the animals but also learned about them. The staff at Marc’s and the guides with Viva were so helpful and patient with our kids. An experience you will cherish for sure!
